Lighting a gas fireplace pilot without an ignitor can be a daunting task, but it's not as difficult as it seems. With the right tools and a little know-how, you can get your fireplace up and running in no time.

1. Gather your tools. You will need a long-reach lighter, a match, and a small screwdriver. If your fireplace has an access panel, you will also need a small magnet.

2. Turn off the gas supply. This is usually done by turning a valve located on the gas line that runs to your fireplace. Ensure the valve is entirely off.

3. Remove the access panel. Locate the access panel on the front of your fireplace and remove it. Depending on the model of your fireplace, the access panel may be held in place by screws or magnets. If it's held by magnets, you can use a small magnet to detach it.

4. Locate the pilot assembly. Once the access panel is removed, you will be able to see the pilot assembly. The pilot assembly is usually located at the bottom of the fireplace and consists of a small burner and a thermocouple.

5. Clean the pilot assembly. Over time, the pilot assembly can become dirty and clogged with dust and debris. Use a small brush or compressed air to clean the burner and thermocouple.
