Craft a Stunning DIY Wooden Fireplace Mantel

1x8 or 1x10 pine or oak planks
Crown molding

Step 1: Cut the Mantel Pieces

Determine the desired length and height of your mantel. Cut two planks for the sides and one plank for the shelf. Miter the edges of the side planks at a 45-degree angle for a seamless corner.

Apply wood glue to the mitered edges of the side planks and clamp them together to form a frame. Reinforce the frame with screws, countersinking them slightly below the surface.
