* If desired, you can use masonry anchors to provide additional support for the mantel. * Drill slightly larger holes in the brick next to the Tapcon screws. * Insert the masonry anchors into the holes and hammer them into place. * Screw the Tapcon screws into the anchors to secure the mantel further.
